Classroom Management
Individual
Our class uses a "Pom Pom" chart. Here, the students place a pom pom in his/her individual pocket chart space. Once a student reaches 5 pom poms, he/she can choose from a list of 3 rewards. The rewards change monthly. This is a great way to promote positive reinforcement!
Marbles/Whole Group
Every time we are "caught" following directions, cleaning up together, walking in the hallway nicely, or listening to a story so quietly, we receive a marble! Once our marble reaches our class "goal" we get a reward! The rewards change monthly as well.
I try to teach the students that a reward does NOT always have to be a hands on prize. Sometimes, its just an extra few minutes to play, or time to play a special game, or even bringing in something for show & tell. This teaches the students that "prizes" come in different forms.
